Important City Meeting March 11th: Who Will Control Hastings Park?

An important meeting about the governance of Hastings Park will be held:

Monday, March 11, 2013
6:00 – 9:00 pm (drop in at 6:00, presentation at 7:00, discussion at 7:30)
Hastings Community Centre (E. Hastings and Lilloet)

The City will present options for the governance of Hastings Park at this meeting. (see the “Documents” tab at this City webpage for the options being presented) This decision will affect every critical aspect of the park. The governance body will have control over:

  • Public access, community use of space, buildings
  • Business/PNE interests vs. Park interests
  • Future development in the park e.g. what happens if the Race Track fails?
  • Public input and accountability for decisions
  • Noise, traffic, lights, parking issues

Everything this community has worked to achieve for decades rides on this decision. Please be there.

We will provide information about the options by e-mail and at the meeting.

This community has a long history of caring about a real park, “A Fair within a Park”.
We have to be heard at this meeting if we have any hope of realizing this long time dream.

Call your neighbours, call those who were involved in the past and come to the meeting.

Also continue to send your concerns by e-mail to Vancouver City Council: mayorandcouncil@vancouver.ca

Please circulate this message.
