Dear Friends of Hastings Park,
We need your help to ensure that there is public control of Hastings Park. Here is what is happening:
- We met with six Councillors (including Raymond Louie, President of the PNE Board) who all agreed that the Governance Review of Hastings Park should start now (see our July submission to Council here). Louie told us the PNE Board was always intended to have “interim” control over Hastings Park. All the councillors liked the public process we laid out for the consultation (see attached).
- City Council has a scheduled meeting on Thursday, Oct.6 with the Governance Review of Hastings Park as an item on this agenda (details will be announced this Friday).
- FOHP have resumed our STANDS every Saturday from 1:00-2:00 PM at Renfrew and E. Hastings to publicize the need for Public control of Hastings Park.
- FOHP will sponsor a public meeting on Monday, October 17th with a panel and discussion of “Why Governance is the Key to the Future of Hastings Park.”
Please mark you calendars and join us this Saturday, Oct. 1st at 1:00 PM at Renfrew and Hastings, to STAND!
We can make sure Hastings Park remains publicly accessible and has a Board that is publicly accountable.
