City Council stalls on promise to review the governance of Hastings Park
Since the approval of the Master Plan last December, City Hall has not acted on their promise to consult the community on who should be in charge of the park. A decision about governance is key to community involvement and public access to the park. By default, the PNE Board continues to make all decisions with no public accountability.
We have a short window of time before the municipal election in November
We must press City Council to proceed with a real community consultation on governance. We must act before the election if we want to have an impact.
We need YOUR input to decide on our next steps
Please come to a meeting on:
Monday, June 20, 2011
Hastings Community Centre
3096 E. Hastings Street (at Lillooet)
The Agenda for June 20th:
- Update on City Hall initiatives since the Master Plan was adopted
- Overview of how decisions are presently being made for Hastings Park–the PNE Board
- Discussion of how decisions being made are impacting our community
- Options for a community response to the governance issue
Please e-mail us or RSVP at email@example.com Let us know what you think. Tell us if you can be at the June 20th meeting. Ask any questions you have about the governance of the park and its importance to our community.
